Why are you offering this now?

Energy demand is exploding, especially in Virginia and Maryland, with new AI data centers coming online, and utility rates continue to rise. At the same time, certain renewable energy incentives and financing structures are still available, allowing Solarsimple to help qualified homeowners go solar with little to no upfront cost. These programs may not be available indefinitely, which is why many homeowners are choosing to explore their options now.

Will I still have an electric bill?

Usually yes, but it will be significantly lower. Our goal is to reduce your current bill by 10-50% and lock it in at that lower rate for 25 years to protect you from rising utility costs.

What happens at the end of the 25-year lease?

Near the end of the agreement, homeowners typically have several options depending on the program structure which may include:

  • Renewing the agreement
  • Upgrading equipment
  • Purchasing the system
  • Having it removed

We’ll explain all available end-of-term options before you sign anything. The equipment that we install is warrantied for 30 years and will still be producing about 85% of its day 1 production, so you will still be seeing savings after 25 years!

What happens if I move?

This free solar agreement can easily be transferred to a new homeowner if you sell during the term. Simply give us a heads up if you are moving and we can facilitate the transfer!

What happens if the system needs maintenance or I need to re-roof?

We handle any maintenance required throughout the life of the system, including the costs. If you need to re-roof, we can coordinate the temporary removal and reinstallation of the solar equipment after the roofing work is complete. (And if you're considering a new roof, our partners at Roofsimple would be happy to help.)

How exactly does Solarsimple make money?

That's a fair question. Because solar tax incentives are available to commercial entities, our financing partner can utilize those incentives and recover a portion of their investment through them. SolarSimple is compensated by our financing partner for developing and managing the project.

You receive a lower energy bill, our partner earns a return on their investment, and everyone benefits.

Do I own the solar panels?

No. Solarsimple utilizes a third party that will pay for the installation and owns the equipment. This allows you to benefit from lower utility rates without having to invest in the system yourself or deal with maintenance, warranty claims, or other headaches.

What's the catch? This sounds too good to be true.

That’s the first question most homeowners ask. The reason this works is because you’re not buying the solar system itself. Solarsimple owns and maintains the equipment while you benefit from lower energy costs. We make money through the long-term energy agreement, not by charging you tens of thousands upfront. The goal is simple: give homeowners a lower, more predictable energy bill while we handle the system.

Is it really free?

Yes, there’s no upfront installation cost to you. Instead of purchasing the system outright, you lease the solar equipment and buy the power it produces at a lower rate than traditional utility power. That’s how we’re able to install the system with no large upfront investment. You are simply lowering your bill for no out-of-pocket costs.
